Remodeling/New Construction
Home remodeling is an exciting adventure. We buy new furniture and rearrange the home for a completely new design. But then, something is amiss when we pay inadequate attention to the existing electrical infrastructure and whether it can sustain the remodeling.
We also tend to ignore wiring etc. or rather don’t think it to be too complicated when we plan on additions to our existing home. Kitchen, bedroom and living room remodeling would require the most amount of work in terms of electrical infrastructure. We are so technologically dependent these days that we seldom pay attention to the fact for all of these “gadgets” to work they need juice; the word we loosely use to mean electricity.
Another parameter we tend to ignore is how and how MUCH new wiring and refurbishment of the current electrical wiring system will cost. Hmmmm now there’s the catch.
Never fear, the answer is near!
Always make sure that you have a meeting with your builder and your professional electrician so that everyone is on the same page as to what needs to be done. Construction or remodeling needs to be carefully planned out before it is started. This way the two professionals can then coordinate the different work stages. Most often you might want to do your own refurbishments or constructions so either way, make sure you bring in your electrical consultant from the beginning.
The electrical consultant will then inspect your current wiring system, your new blueprint and then advise you on the different options available. You can then decide on how you want to move forward.
