Television
When your television set encounters some power supply problems, it is not wise to contact qualified electricians right away as the solution may be very simple. Perform television troubleshooting first by following some moderately easy steps mentioned below. If the problem persists after carrying them out, then that is the time you call for professional help.
Before you start troubleshooting, prepare needed materials such as your TV and remote, a lamp, a functioning electrical outlet, and a universal power supply.
Step 1
Check all connections for proper placements and if they are inserted securely into the sockets. Assess electrical cords for any damage such as cuts or nicks. If you find any alteration on the cords, replace them immediately as it might be the cause of the problem and to prevent occurrence of electrical shocks.
Step 2
Determine if the outlet where you connected the unit has incoming power flow by plugging it into another power source. If the TV turns on, then the problem is not within the set TV.
Step 3
Be acquainted with the circuit load where you connect the TV as it might be already overloaded. Electronic devices such as microwave ovens, refrigerators, dryers, heaters and washers can stimulate power supply drops if they are switched on simultaneously. Ensure that your TV is plugged into a less loaded circuit.
Step 4
If you notice irregular flickers on your TV set not caused by circuit overload, try to identify if it is due to fluctuations of power supply. Do this by connecting a lamp into the outlet as power fluctuations can cause the bulb to flicker intermittently. If you observe such condition, immediately get in touch with an electrician as power fluctuations could lead into fires.
If you cannot overcome the specific problem at hand, or are hesitant about how to proceed, ask professional electrical contractors for their help and advice.
