DVD and Video
DVD players and VCRs have tremendously revolutionized the home movie viewing experience. They are few of the products of technology that make life more pleasurable and can bring a family or any group together. However if you take into consideration that they are products brought by technology and are powered by electricity, a DVD player and a VCR also have their own flaws just like other electronic devices. These flaws are especially common after using the device over a considerable span of time. Know what they are and what you can do about these electrical problems before you contact professional electricians.
Troubleshooting DVD Player Problems
• Disk Fails to Play – A very common problem which may be caused by excessive usage of the device or any internal technical issue. Never attempt to resolve this issue as it requires services from electrical contractors.
• Disk Skipping and Scratching – Skipping usually take place if you feed a scratched disk into the player. However, if skipping constantly happens even when you insert various scratch-free disks, or if the player causes scratches to disks, it most probably has serious problems inside.
• Overheating – Placing the device inside a poorly ventilated room will cause overheating. Also, putting your DVD player on top of a TV will lead to same condition. If you notice that it is emitting too much heat, power it off for a while to let it cool.
Troubleshooting VCR Problems
• Not Working VCR or Nonsense Display – Restart VCR’s CPU by removing its plug from the outlet for a few minutes.
• VCR Works but No Audio or Picture Display – Assess if the tape you fed is not stuck inside. Check if you have connected the input and output sources correctly. Examine easily reached belts for proper placements by opening the VCR. Cleanse the tape heads.
• VCR Plays but Does not Record – Cleanse tape heads.
• VCR Turns On But Shuts Down After A While - Examine easily reached belts for proper placements by opening the VCR.
• Audio and/or Picture Display is Indistinct – Alter the tracking.
• VCR Plays But Video Problems Occur Such as Failure to Display – Assess connections involving the VCR and RV.
