That Touch of Class: Installing Chandeliers
Installing chandeliers is not an easy job and should only be done by professional electricians. The installation has to be safe and correct, because the procedure is rather complicated and may be dangerous if not done in the proper manner. It is best if this impressive lighting fixture be installed by an experienced electrical contractor.
The weight of the chandelier plays a very important role during its installation. The bracing should match the weight of the chandelier and accordingly the bracket which holds it. If a new chandelier is replacing the old one, the weight has to be matched and the fixtures changed accordingly. Also, if the older bracket is damaged, it is better to replace it with a new one.
Electricians generally fix chandeliers during the day so that they can work in natural light. The power has to be switched off during installation and a circuit tester helps the electrician to check the flow of current.
The tools used by an electrician are a screwdriver and a wire stripper. First he will remove the screws which hold the light fixture cover and remove it. The negative and positive wires are then disconnected from the light fixture connectors, as well as the ground wire.
Now the wires of the new lighting fixture are attached. With the help of the wire stripper the electrician adjusts the size of the wires and then connects them, replacing the cover subsequently. Once the power is on, and the light comes on, the job is done. But if the connection has not been successful, the electrician must again check the wires, connections, but only after he has shut off the power once more.
The entire procedure is cumbersome and it is not always easy to deal with electrical problems, if you do not have the experience. It is best to appoint an electrician to install the chandelier for your safety.
